YouTube Analysis

Analyze videos directly from YouTube URLs without downloading.

YouTube Analysis lets you analyze any publicly accessible YouTube video by simply pasting its URL. VPA handles the video processing server-side, so you don't need to download anything.

Using YouTube Analysis

To analyze a YouTube video:

  1. Navigate to the Analysis page
  2. Select "YouTube URL" as your input type
  3. Paste the full YouTube URL into the input field
  4. Configure your frame count and target generator
  5. Click "Analyze" to start the process

Supported URL Formats

  • https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID
⚠️

Private videos

VPA can only analyze publicly accessible YouTube videos. Private or unlisted videos may not work depending on their privacy settings.

How It Works

When you submit a YouTube URL, VPA:

  1. Validates the URL and checks video accessibility
  2. Downloads the video to our secure servers
  3. Extracts frames at your specified count
  4. Runs the same visual analysis as uploaded videos
  5. Generates an optimized prompt for your target generator
  6. Deletes the video from our servers after processing

Time Range Selection

For longer YouTube videos, you can specify a time range to analyze. This is useful when you only want to capture the style of a specific section:

  • Start time: Where to begin frame extraction (e.g., 0:30)
  • End time: Where to stop frame extraction (e.g., 1:00)
💡

Video length

We recommend keeping the analyzed section under 60 seconds for best results. Longer sections will still work but may capture more variation than desired for a single prompt.

Advantages Over Video Upload

  • No file size limits: Analyze any YouTube video regardless of length
  • No downloads needed: Process videos directly from the URL
  • Access to more content: Analyze reference videos you don't have locally
  • Time range selection: Target specific sections of longer videos

Use Cases

  • Analyzing cinematography from movie trailers
  • Capturing the style of music videos
  • Replicating the look of commercial advertisements
  • Studying documentary filming techniques
  • Learning from tutorial or educational content

Limitations

  • Requires public or accessible YouTube videos
  • Processing may take slightly longer than direct uploads
  • Some region-restricted videos may not be accessible
  • Age-restricted content may require additional verification

Pro tip

Use YouTube Analysis to study the cinematography of professional content you admire, then apply those learned styles to your own video generation projects.
