Prompt Refinements

Fine-tune your generated prompts with one-click adjustments.

Refinements are one-click adjustments that modify specific aspects of your generated prompt without starting over. They use AI to intelligently adjust the prompt while maintaining overall coherence and style.

How Refinements Work

When you apply a refinement, VPA sends your current prompt back to the AI with specific instructions to adjust one aspect. The AI modifies the prompt to emphasize or de-emphasize certain elements while keeping everything else intact.

Non-destructive editing

Refinements create a new version of your prompt. You can always undo a refinement or go back to previous versions in your history.

Available Refinements

Camera & Motion

  • More Dynamic: Increase camera movement and action
  • More Static: Reduce motion, focus on stillness
  • Faster Pace: Speed up implied motion and cuts
  • Slower Pace: Make movement more deliberate and slow
  • Closer Shot: Push in for more intimate framing
  • Wider Shot: Pull back for environmental context

Lighting & Mood

  • Brighter: Increase overall brightness and exposure
  • Darker: Create moodier, low-key lighting
  • Warmer: Shift toward golden/amber tones
  • Cooler: Shift toward blue/teal tones
  • More Contrast: Increase dramatic light/shadow difference
  • Softer: Reduce contrast for a gentler look

Style & Atmosphere

  • More Cinematic: Enhance filmic qualities
  • More Natural: Reduce stylization, increase realism
  • More Dramatic: Intensify emotional impact
  • More Subtle: Reduce intensity, increase nuance
  • Vintage Look: Add retro film characteristics
  • Modern Look: Clean, contemporary aesthetics

Technical

  • More Detail: Add technical specificity
  • Simplify: Remove unnecessary complexity
  • Shorten: Condense to essential elements
  • Expand: Add more descriptive content

Using Refinements

  1. Generate a prompt using video analysis or style anchors
  2. Review the generated prompt
  3. Click any refinement button to adjust
  4. Compare the refined version with the original
  5. Apply additional refinements if needed
  6. Save the final version to your project

Stacking refinements

You can apply multiple refinements in sequence. For example, apply "More Cinematic" then "Warmer" then "Slower Pace" to build up your desired effect layer by layer.

Refinement History

VPA keeps track of all refinements applied during a session. You can:

  • View the history of changes
  • Undo the last refinement
  • Jump back to any previous version
  • Compare versions side by side

Custom Refinements

In addition to preset refinements, you can write custom refinement instructions. Simply describe what you want to change:

  • "Make the lighting more like a Wes Anderson film"
  • "Add more emphasis on texture and detail"
  • "Remove references to people, focus on the environment"
  • "Make it feel more like a dream sequence"

Generator limits

Remember that each generator has character limits. Refinements that add detail may push your prompt over the limit. VPA will warn you if this happens.
